The Chatterbox Oracle

How a childhood game became a doorway into elemental wisdom

Sometimes insight arrives through the most unexpected places.

Recently, while preparing a masterclass, I found myself revisiting something many of us played with as children, the simple paper chatterbox (sometimes called a fortune teller).

But as I sat with it, something interesting began to emerge.

By weaving together numerology, astrology, and elemental wisdom, this playful tool began to feel like a small oracle, a way to pause, listen, and receive a reflection from life itself.

In the process we follow three intuitive steps:

• Choose a number between 1 and 9
• Choose Sun, Moon, or Rising
• Choose an element or season

Where you land reveals a message.

In the masterclass the message is short and intuitive.  But many people asked for something they could return to, a deeper explanation of what each reveal represents.

So below you’ll find the expanded meanings behind each element and season.

You can read the one you received, or simply notice which one calls to you today.

Air – Clarity and New Perspective

Air represents thought, communication, and movement.

When Air appears in an oracle, it often signals that clarity is arriving. Something that once felt confusing may begin to make sense.

Air reminds us that insight often comes when we create space in our thinking.

Sometimes the answer isn’t about trying harder. It’s about stepping back and allowing perspective to shift.

Ways to work with Air energy:

• journal to clarify your thoughts
• have an honest conversation
• explore a new perspective
• ask questions instead of seeking certainty

Reflection

What new perspective might be trying to reach me right now?

Fire – Courage and Creative Energy

Fire represents passion, life force, and transformation.

When Fire appears, something within you is ready to ignite.

This may show up as an idea, a creative impulse, or a decision you’ve been hesitating to act upon.

Fire invites movement.

Not reckless action, but the courage to honour the spark within you.

Ways to work with Fire energy:

• take one bold step forward
• reconnect with what excites you
• express something you’ve been holding back
• allow yourself to feel energised again

Reflection

Where in my life is courage asking to be expressed?

Water – Intuition and Emotional Wisdom

Water is the realm of emotion, sensitivity, and intuition.

When Water appears, it invites you to listen beneath the surface of your thoughts.

Often the body and heart recognise truth before the mind can explain it.

Water reminds us that intuition is not dramatic or loud.
It is usually quiet, steady, and deeply felt.

Ways to work with Water energy:

• sit quietly with your feelings
• notice what your body is telling you
• honour emotional signals rather than dismissing them
• trust subtle intuitive nudges

Reflection

What is my intuition quietly guiding me toward?

Earth – Grounding and Steady Growth

Earth represents stability, patience, and practical action.

When Earth appears, it reminds us that lasting growth takes time.

Not everything needs to happen quickly.

Earth energy encourages us to nurture what matters most through steady attention.

Ways to work with Earth energy:

• focus on practical next steps
• create supportive routines
• build something slowly and intentionally
• reconnect with the present moment

Reflection

What in my life needs steady care and patience?

Spring – New Beginnings

Spring carries the energy of renewal.

Seeds that have been quietly resting beneath the soil begin to grow.

When Spring appears, it often signals that a new chapter is beginning.

The beginning may be subtle at first – like the first green shoot emerging after winter.

Ways to work with Spring energy:

• explore a new idea or opportunity
• allow curiosity to guide you
• begin something you’ve been thinking about
• nurture small beginnings

Reflection

What new beginning is gently emerging in my life?

Summer – Expression and Visibility

Summer represents vitality, expression, and confidence.

The seeds planted in earlier seasons are now flourishing.

When Summer appears, it often invites you to step forward and share more of yourself with the world.

Your voice, gifts, and presence are meant to be expressed.

Ways to work with Summer energy:

• share your ideas or creativity
• allow yourself to be seen
• celebrate what you have created
• bring warmth and enthusiasm to your work

Reflection

Where am I being invited to shine more fully?

Autumn – Release and Harvest

Autumn teaches us the sacred rhythm of letting go.

Leaves fall not because the tree is failing, but because the cycle is shifting.

When Autumn appears, it may be time to release something that has completed its purpose.

Letting go allows space for what is coming next.

Ways to work with Autumn energy:

• acknowledge what has run its course
• release outdated expectations
• honour the wisdom gained from past experiences
• simplify and clear space

Reflection

What am I ready to release with gratitude?

Winter – Rest and Integration

Winter is the season of stillness and inner wisdom.

Nature rests. Beneath the surface, deep integration takes place.

When Winter appears, it often signals a time of quiet transformation.

Not all growth is visible.

Ways to work with Winter energy:

• create space for reflection
• listen inward rather than pushing forward
• allow insights to integrate
• honour the quiet phases of life

Reflection

Where is life inviting me to slow down and listen?

A final thought

Oracles don’t predict the future.

Instead, they reflect something that is already alive within us.

The message you received may simply be a gentle reminder of what you already know or what you are ready to discover next.

Pause with the message that found you.

There may be more wisdom in it than first appears.
