Part 2 Break Through Upper Limits Series
Let’s talk about one of the most disheartening (but completely normal) parts of building a spiritual business:
The silence from friends and family.
You finally summon the courage to share your offerings. You post your services, your events, your insights. You pour your heart into your work.
And then . . . crickets.
Or worse, subtle resistance, awkward questions, or expectations for free sessions.
It’s easy to spiral. The thoughts come rushing in:
“Maybe I’m not good enough . . .”
“Maybe they don’t believe in me . . .”
“Maybe this whole thing isn’t working . . .”
But here’s the truth no one really talks about:
Friends and family are rarely your clients. And that’s not a reflection of your worth, it’s a reflection of boundaries, roles, and energetic alignment.
Why Friends & Family Stay Silent (Or Avoid Your Work)
There are many reasons your loved ones might not jump in to support your business:
✨ They see a different version of you, the old version. To them, you’re still their sister, friend, daughter, not necessarily the healer, guide, or business owner you’ve become.
✨ Your growth can feel confronting Your decision to start a business (especially a spiritual one) may trigger their own fears about worth, visibility, or success.
✨ They aren’t your ideal clients Your work is likely designed to support people outside your immediate circle, people searching for transformation you’re uniquely qualified to guide them through.
✨ They don’t understand your world, Energy work, healing, spiritual growth, it can all feel foreign, even intimidating, to those who aren’t walking the same path.
And most importantly . . .
✨ It’s not their job to validate your purpose.
Stop Fishing in the Wrong Pond
When you expect your business to grow through friends and family, you set yourself up for disappointment.
Your soul-aligned clients?
💫 They’re out there, strangers right now.
💫 They’re scrolling, searching, waiting for the energy YOU bring.
💫 They might not know you yet, but they will.
Some of your deepest, most fulfilling connections in life and business will come from the people who find you through your work, not the ones you already know.
Boundaries Are Money Medicine
The silence, resistance, or weirdness from friends and family isn’t always personal — but your response to it IS powerful.
Here’s what shifts everything:
✔️ Set boundaries around your work, it’s sacred, it’s valuable, and it deserves to be honoured, not handed out for free to appease others.
✔️ Release the expectation that loved ones need to understand, approve of, or engage with your offerings.
✔️ Redirect your energy to building the aligned audience your work was designed to serve.
You Are Not Alone
Every spiritual entrepreneur I’ve worked with has faced this moment. The awkwardness, the doubt, the quiet hurt when loved ones don’t show up the way we hoped.
But I promise you, your real clients, your community, your soul family? They’re out there.
Let this be your permission slip to stop shrinking, stop waiting for approval, and start leading, even if your inner circle doesn’t clap right now.
